Ace Frehley – Cherry Medicine - (Official Music Video).
Ace previously released the title track, "10,000 Volts" and single "Walkin' on the Moon." Rock ‘n’ roll and heavy metal simply wouldn’t sound, look, or feel the same without Ace Frehley. Among hundreds of accolades, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame® inducted him in 2014 as a Co-founder and the original lead guitarist of Kiss. Guitar World named him in the Top 15 of its “100 Greatest Heavy Metal Guitarists of All Time” and plugged the lead from “Shock Me” on the “50 Greatest Guitar Solos of All Time.” Magnifying the imprint of his catalog as a solo artist, Foo Fighters cut a fan-favorite cover of “Ozone,” and he even jammed out “New York Groove” alongside The Roots on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The late Dimebag Darrell of Pantera proudly sported a tattoo of Frehley on his chest, while Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine celebrated him on X/Twitter as “My first guitar hero.” 10,000 Volts upholds an incredible legacy for Frehley, spanning 50-plus years in the limelight. Back in 1978, he delivered his solo debut, Ace Frehley. It reached platinum status and exploded as “the highest-selling of the four Kiss solo albums in the Soundscan era.” Pitchfork even retrospectively rated it a rare “8.5” score. In 1987, he dropped Frehley’s Comet. Following Anomaly in 2009, he went on to make history once again. His 2014 Space Invader LP captured #9 on the Billboard 200 and emerged as “The only solo album by a past or current Kiss member to reach the Top 10 on the chart.” 2016’s Origins Vol. 1, bowed at #1 on the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums Chart and in the Top 5 of the Billboard Top Rock Albums Chart. He notably maintained his momentum with Spaceman [2018]. "'10,000 Volts,' in its own time, in its own way, is similarly staggering – quite simply, OVERWHELMING. 10,000/10 -- Ghost Cult Magazine (February 22, 2024) RRHOF-inductee and guitar legend Ace Frehley releases a new video for "Cherry Medicine," featured on his new album, "10,000 Volts." His highly-anticipated album will be released tomorrow. Produced and co-written by Ace and Steve Brown, the uncontainable energy on the 11-tracks showcases some of Ace's best works since his '78 solo album. On "Cherry Medicine," a mean palm-muted chug underlines his pensive vocals where he confesses, “I knew I had to change my ways for sure to keep you by my side.” The track showcases another side of Frehley with its saccharine and sweet, soaring hook as he promises, “I love you, cherry medicine. You heal my every need and some.” He seals the sentiment with another powerhouse solo.

His new namesake signature model ES-335 from Epiphone features a smooth-playing 60s SlimTaper Rounded C neck profile with an Indian laurel fretboard, small pearloid block inlays, and a Marty Music logo on the back of the headstock. The 5-ply layered maple body is capped with a beautiful AAA-figured maple veneer and is finished in Sixties Cherry. Rock solid tuning stability is ensured by the Grover 502C Roto-Grip Locking Rotomatic tuners and Graph Tech nut, while the other ends of the strings are anchored with an Epiphone LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stop bar tailpiece. The flexible electronics include Epiphone Alnico Classic PRO pickups, each with a push/pull phase switch; a hardshell case is also included.

Fab's Music Café: Stephen Perkins
His role of founding member for the mega star outfit “Jane’s Addiction”, and beat master for other legendary bands like Infectious Grooves, Porno for Pyros, Nine Inch Nails and many more, might have given him general public stardom, but Stephen Perkins, when it comes down to drumming, is considered one of the most creatives ones out there, and with a merit ! Raised on Rock and Metal in his pre Jane’s Addiction years, he learned how to listen and to open his intake of music influences with a 360 angle. Master tribal that he is, he can switch from a super tight funk to a Mozambico , while adding his own signature colors, and percussive sounds too.. He is one of those people who light up the room when they enter it, and so is his drumming and stage performance, no matter what “alternative” du jour tonight’s gig might call for. Stephen Perkins has been working on a series of brand new grooves in combination with percussions and other unconventional percussion, he is about to launch his own label, and keeps himself busy with recording sessions and live performances of all kinds.

Fab's Music Café - Bette Smith
Wild rock & soul singer Bette Smith traces elements of her life-affirming new album ‘The Good, The Bad & The Bette’ to her childhood in rough Brooklyn, NY. Musically, it connects to the gospel music she heard in church and the soul music on the corners. This injection of soul and gospel into rock & roll powered a breakout in 2017’s ‘Jetlagger,’ which received raves from NPR, Paste, American Songwriter, Billboard, MOJO, and a feature in the New York Times. Now, ‘The Good, The Bad & The Bette’ out Sept. 25, 2020 on Ruf Records, is garnering equal praise.

Solomon Hicks
When the Cotton Club and its band are your playground and playmates both, you can be sure there’s something going on. With that kind of cred , one develops his own anesthetic against flavor of the month disposable trends in search of the real thing. Solomon Hicks in spite of his young age, has been living that experience, and thrived in it. His manners, his tone, his vocals, and his James Bondish-BB Kingish classy attire, helped set him up in a league of his own, among today’s contemporary 6 strings virtuoso. But it’s once again the Blues, whereas in the eternal lessons of King “BB”, or on the street’s gospel of Harlem , that motivated the Lil’ BB to become the take no prisoner performer of today. Whereas on Sirius XM BB KIng’s Blues Deville or on plenty of streaming playlist, no Blues lover was able to escape this past year from the love the media and the fans are giving plenty Solomon Hicks, actually : King Solomon Hicks.

SOUL GARAGE EXPERIENCE: "I rather be wrong"
Fabrizio Grossi & Soul Garage Experience release their next single ‘I Rather Be Wrong’ to lead the way for their forthcoming album “Counterfeited Blues!” in early 2021. The song hears Fab sharing life’s many lessons of survival in the entertainment industry with his daughter, Andrea Grossi-Benitez (in her own right a promising young actress/ writer and singer), who’s backing vocals are on the album and also a back up vocalist for the “more famous outfit” as Fab calls, Supersonic Blues Machine. The core musicians of the band are all Fathers, with their kids being all aspiring musicians or actors, and they are faced with all the hardship their rocking parents went through at the embarking of their careers. As Fab states, “Who better to advise the young bloods upon the potential pitfalls, yet uplifting moments of the “biz” than their thick skinned Fathers, yet also let them loose?” Fab’s band is nothing else than the well renowned bassist/producer solo band. Well known for working with household name musicians of the community across the globe and fronts the band on lead vocals and bass guitar. The album features world class musicians - the stellar Jane’s Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins, American Idol finalist Diimond Meeks on lead vocal scats, the rising star Derek Day, and Fab’s family power house Francis Benitez and Andrea Sophie Grossi-Benitez on backing vocals, also working with Fab’s Supersonic Blues Machine under the moniker “Supersonnets”. Just like for his other award winning band Supersonic Blues Machine, fronted by Kris Barras with Kenny Aronoff - the thrilling live shows of the band are heavily jam based, so to embrace the golden era of live Blues Rock & Soul: the 60’s and the 70’s! On stage, the ensemble easily moves between new crafted tunes and all time classics spanning time in Hendrix, Cream, Allman Bros, Stevie Wonder but they are a far cry from your regular covers band! Their sound can be easily associated with contemporary Rock-Blues and Neo-Soul artists such as Vintage Trouble, Gary Clark Jr, The Black Keys, Fantastic Negrito & thanks to the musicians’ own backgrounds, history and their endless love for Cream, Hendrix and Curtis Mayfield alike, the resulting music experience offered by the band is an infectious groove laden combination of old and new school, with a music prowess & ownership that turns heads and instigates curiosity. Fab is excited to bring his music to all, to excite, thrill, enlighten and raise awareness of how we can all come together in the most difficult and not only the best of times. click the INFO button for more.

Russ Hewitt feat. Marty Friedman: VIVIR LIBRE
Spanish Guitarist Russ Hewitt has done it again with another collaborative effort with another high-profile guitar virtuoso... Russ has been putting out a string of singles with such recording artists as; Jazz Blues Legend Larry Carlton (Steely Dan, The Crusaders), Rock Funk Groovester Nuno Bettencourt from the band Extreme and now Legendary Shrapnel Records' / Megadeth Guitarist Marty Friedman. If you are in the mood for a heavy Latin groove, look no further... IN RUSS'S OWN WORDS: SONG I set off initially to write a heavy groove Latin song that would translate well live. I used the Tres guitar I got from Cuba to harmonize with the guitar throughout the song, including the main riff and chorus. Due to the key this song is written in (C#m), I was able to come up with a unique chord progression for the solo section utilizing the open E string. After the chord progression was written, I instantly thought that it would be something Marty Friedman would write and that he would be perfect for the song. I am fortunate enough to be endorsed by the same guitar cable company as Marty (Analysis Plus Cables) and reached out to the owner Mark Markel to make an introduction. Within 7 days of the introduction, Marty had sent up his parts. Marty's playing made me really step up my game, including adding harmonies to my solo for the first time. MARTY FRIEDMAN Marty Friedman is one of the rare guitarists that have their own distinct sound and style. All it takes is a couple of notes played before I can recognize that it's him or someone trying to sound like him. A bonafide guitar hero, Marty is considered one of the best Rock/Heavy Metal guitarists in the world, and his solo for Tornado of Souls is cited as an all-time great. Marty's use of Middle Eastern and other exotic scales influenced me to explore those as well, which can be heard in many of my songs. Known mainly for his electric guitar playing, Marty plays an acoustic guitar full of his trademark phrasing and harmonies. VIDEO I initially was not going to have a video for this song, just a static photo of the single cover. At the last minute, I reached out to a childhood friend, Todd Sims. Todd is a film and TV director with over 300 project credits to his name. As the owner of Fusionflix Entertainment, he was kind enough to work on this for me after six days of filming on location. All five of my Telly awards are from soundtrack work I've done for some of Todd's projects (Parent Compass TV series/webisodes, the DVD companion to the New York Best Seller The Harbinger Decoded by Jonathan Cahn, and the feature film Thirst: Mission Liberia.)

Blues Soloing Move - House Pattern (Major) To Box 3 Pentatonic Minor To Pentatonic 6 Pattern
This video is one of my favorite "moves" around and through some of my favorite blues soloing scales and sounds. If you've ever heard me talk about what I call the, "core position," for many blues players... this is it. "Notice how, with minimal movement, I can go through 3 unique sounds easily and comfortably, with only minor adjustments getting from one scale to the next... In my opinion, that should be your goal, not moving around the fretboard in large leaps and bounds."....Griff

"The blues typically revolves around 7th chords... not major 7th, and no minor 7th, but dominant 7th chords. Those chords can come in a few different shapes and sizes, but there are some basics that you really should know, and that's today's video."...Griff.

Blues Guitar Soloing Lesson - Sliding Through The Pentatonic Scale On The Ring Finger
"It's fairly common using the "boxes" of the pentatonic or blues scale to get stuck in one pattern (which is often box 1 or maybe 2)... But if you can get used to starting with your ring finger, there's a cool little slip and slide move that will take you through over 2 octaves of pentatonic scale real estate pretty darn quickly! Aside from being a good way to play some cool blues/rock sounds because of the increase in speed, this is just another great way to visualize your fretboard that you may not be that familiar with. So have fun, and try it out..." Griff.

Griff Hamlin, "There are a lot of different tunes that, while "bluesy," aren't really blues songs (they aren't a 12 bar blues.) This particular progression, which is used in songs like, "Blue On Black," "Sweet Home Alabama," and a lot of other classic rock and "blues" tunes, lends itself really well to experimenting with both the major and minor blues and pentatonic scales. So, in this video, I'll show you the progression, how I put it in the looper, and how I go back and forth between those major and minor pentatonic scales to hear how they work and how they create contrast when used together."

David Becker Jazz Guitar Techniques - Trailer
Grammy-nominated Jazz guitarist and master educator, David Becker is back with a great 8 chapter masterclass on everything you need to know about Jazz Blues. Here's David's breakdown of each chapter. Episode 2: With the aide of a simple Blues melody written by Vibraphonist Milt Jackson, I will break down a 3 cord Blues using extensions such as (9th, 13th) and also how to voice dominant chords that have the melody note on top. Episode 3: In this chapter I will show how to expand the 3 Chord progression and introduce a II V I turnaround. Episode 4: In this chapter, I will show how to alter some of the dominant 7th chords using flat 9th or sharp 9th as well as a raised 5th. This will also introduce the minor 7th chord to the progression. Episode 5: In this chapter, I will discuss using the shapes directly out of the chord to solo. This includes major, minor and diminished triads. Episodes 6 & 7: In these chapters, there is more on soloing using the shapes, triads. Episode 8: Here are some more advanced methods to consider for soloing over a Blues. This includes chromatic and intervalic ideas. Click the link or head to the My AGN Store to purchase this great series.

Gibson Custom Shop Kirk Hammett Greeny 1959 Les Paul Standard
The story of “Greeny” is shrouded in mystery, but few guitars are as illustrious. Greeny is one of the most iconic original Les Paul Standards ever made, with a unique sound as recognizable as the guitar itself. Originally owned by Peter Green, it was used throughout his time with Fleetwood Mac and later sold to Gary Moore, who used it for three decades with Thin Lizzy and as a solo artist. Now owned by Kirk Hammett, Greeny has passed through the hands of three legendary guitarists. Its distinctive sound is partly from the out-of-phase middle switch position due to the neck pickup’s reversed magnetic polarity. The Kirk Hammett “Greeny” 1959 Les Paul Standard from the Gibson Custom Shop is artfully aged to match the original by the Murphy Lab and was inspired by this legendary guitar. With its Indian Rosewood fretboard, the Custom Shop Greeny gives players around the world the opportunity to experience some of the magic of “Greeny” for themselves. The Gibson Custom Shop “Greeny” arrives with an exclusive Lifton reissue 5 latch hardshell case with brown leather exterior and pink interior. Due out on April 11, 2023, the Kirk Hammett “Greeny” Les Paul Standard version was inspired by this legendary guitar and gives players around the world the opportunity to experience some of the magic of “Greeny” for themselves. The Gibson Kirk Hammett “Greeny” Les Paul Standard comes with an Original Series hardshell case.
