LIVE show Inside with Alice & Freebo coming this Wednesday at Norman's Rare Guitars

This coming Wednesday, 9/2 at 5:00pm PDT (UTC - 7:00) we're launching a new weekly LIVE show, "Inside with Alice & Freebo,” right here on the Norman’s Rare Guitars YouTube Channel (and Facebook Live)! Hosted by Norm’s favorites, acclaimed songwriters and accomplished musicians ALICE HOWE and FREEBO, "Inside” will feature weekly musical guests for a writers-in-the-round concert and musician-on-musician interview. You’ll go behind the scenes and inside the music with some of the world’s most iconic and talented musicians, songwriters, singers, and recording artists in rock, roots, Americana, and folk. For our first show, we are proud to feature GRAMMY® winning guitarist LAURENCE JUBER. Freebo is a genuine folk, rock and blues icon who, after over 40 years of recording and touring with many of the great artists of our time (Bonnie Raitt 10 years, CSN, Maria Muldaur, John Mayall, Ringo Starr, Dr. John, Neil Young, & many more) is regarded as one of the most gifted singer-songwriters of today. A multi award winner and finalist in numerous songwriting contests, Freebo was also recognized as the 'Best Folk Artist 2007' by the Los Angeles Music Awards. In addition, he has appeared on Saturday Night Live, The Muppet Show, The Midnight Special, and in concert with the legendary Spinal Tap. His compassionate concern for the world and people around him, as evidenced both in his lyrics and his open stage banter, has helped him connect with listeners worldwide. A musical evening with Freebo is astute, insightful, clever, and truly melodic. A rising voice in modern folk, singer and songwriter Alice Howe offers a modern love letter to 60s and 70s folk and timeless blues. Originally hailing from Boston, MA, now living in Los Angeles, Alice released her critically acclaimed debut album, Visions, last May. Produced by Freebo with a stellar cast of musicians and recorded in Bakersfield, California, Visions features new originals alongside Alice’s interpretations of iconic songs from her family’s vast record collection. A young artist discovering her own power, Alice pays homage without succumbing to imitation. “Howe not only has a luminous alto voice full of warmth and delectable nuance, but she also writes smart and affecting lyrics full of wit and irreverence” - The Patriot Ledger. GRAMMY® winning guitarist Laurence Juber is a solo performer, recording artist, composer, and arranger. His playing fuses folk, jazz, blues, pop and classical styles, creating a multi-faceted performance that belies the use of only one instrument. A music graduate of London’s Goldsmith’s College, he was featured guitar soloist with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra before becoming established as a studio musician in the mid-1970’s. First internationally recognized as lead guitarist in Beatle Paul McCartney’s Wings, with whom he won a Grammy, Juber has since established himself as a world-renowned guitar virtuoso and entertainer. We hope you’ll tune in for this exclusive, totally unscripted live concert and fascinating conversation about songwriting, guitar playing, creativity, and of course LJ’s fascinating life and career. Update: Feb 23, 2021: FENDER 75 YEARS by author DAVE HUNTER.

Ubiquitous in the music world, Fender guitars and amplifiers are also icons in popular culture, their shapes and sounds instantly recognizable. Authoritatively written and lavishly illustrated, Fender 75 Years is the officially licensed anniversary celebration of the company and its legendary instruments. From Fender’s first instrument—a lap steel guitar produced in 1946—to founder Leo Fender’s groundbreaking early six-string “Spanish-style” guitar designs like the Esquire that set the standard for the electric guitar explosion to follow, author Dave Hunter traces Fender’s entire history to the present. All the innovations and landmark models are here, as well as legendary players who became synonymous with Fender instruments across musical genres. In addition to the instantly recognizable Telecaster and Stratocaster, Hunter examines Fender’s line of legendary offset guitars like the Mustang, Jazzmaster, and Jaguar, and bygone models such as the Marauder, Coronado, Bronco, and more. The Jazz Bass and Precision Bass also feature, as do Fender’s acoustic guitars and workhorse tube amplifiers like the Bassman, Twin Reverb, and Princeton, to name a few. Along the way, readers will get in-depth scoops on the relationships dozens of players have enjoyed with Fender: rock ’n’ roll pioneers like Hank Marvin and James Burton; classic-rock icons like Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmour, and Eric Clapton; blues legends Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Buddy Guy; alt-rock gods J Mascis and Kurt Cobain…the list goes on. In addition, Hunter explores the work of the award-winning Fender Custom Shop and the wares produced there. Illustrated throughout with rare images from company archives, Fender 75 Years treats readers to rare behind-the- scenes views of the shop floor throughout the years, as well as studio imagery of the guitars, rare period advertising and brochures, and performance images of Fender players. It’s the definitive look at the Fender’s first three-quarters of a century and a must-have for any guitar enthusiast. Dave Hunter is an author, musician, and journalist. He is the author of several popular books about guitars, amps, and effects, including Voyageur Press's Star Guitars, The Fender Stratocaster, The Gibson Les Paul, and 365 Guitars, Amps & Effects You Must Play. A regular contributor to Guitar Player and Vintage Guitar magazines, he resides in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Update: Feb 22, 2021: Peavey introduce mini Invective Head .mp4

News out of MERIDIAN, MS  Peavey Electronics® proves that good things do come in small packages in their second collaboration with Periphery guitarist, Misha Mansoor. The new invective™ MH amplifier packs all of the best tones from the 120 W big brother into a much more portable and proven 20 W MH head format. At the heart of this little monster is a pair of EL84 power tubes shaped by three 12AX7/ECC83 preamp tubes, providing everything from clean pristine tones to the chunky gated distortion. The onboard Tube Status Indication circuit helps the user diagnose a problem with the power tubes and the bias adjustment pot is located on the top of the small, rugged chassis. Additionally, foot switches allow the invective MH to engage or disengage the Tight voicing and any combination of Gate and Boost on the Lead channel, respectively. There’s also an independently foot-switchable buffered effects loop.AND don’t be deceived by the size or format of the invective MH. No matter the venue, this mini amplifier has plenty of oomph for small-to-medium sized gigs and can even work as a backline stage monitor with its attenuator switch directing power at 20 W, 5 W, or 1 W to suit the need.On the clean channel, adaptive low and high EQ help find the sweet spot with ease. The lead channel provides a three-band EQ and the Master Resonance and Master Presence pots help shape the tone. In addition to its new sounds, the invective MH has all of the recording hooks and flexibility of the other Peavey MH amplifiers, including Microphone Simulated Direct Interface Output with XLR and ground lift switch, speaker-simulated USB, speaker defeat switch, power attenuator, headphone out, and more. Dual quarter-inch TRS footswitch jacks allow for easy MIDI control.the invective MH weighs just over 16.5 pounds and it’s approximately 14 inches wide by 7.5 inches tall, with a depth of just over 12 inches.  And the the street price of this little monster...? $699USD To learn more about invective MH, click the info button now. visit www.peavey.com.
