LIVE show Inside with Alice & Freebo coming this Wednesday at Norman's Rare Guitars

This coming Wednesday, 9/2 at 5:00pm PDT (UTC - 7:00) we're launching a new weekly LIVE show, "Inside with Alice & Freebo,” right here on the Norman’s Rare Guitars YouTube Channel (and Facebook Live)! Hosted by Norm’s favorites, acclaimed songwriters and accomplished musicians ALICE HOWE and FREEBO, "Inside” will feature weekly musical guests for a writers-in-the-round concert and musician-on-musician interview. You’ll go behind the scenes and inside the music with some of the world’s most iconic and talented musicians, songwriters, singers, and recording artists in rock, roots, Americana, and folk. For our first show, we are proud to feature GRAMMY® winning guitarist LAURENCE JUBER.

Freebo is a genuine folk, rock and blues icon who, after over 40 years of recording and touring with many of the great artists of our time (Bonnie Raitt 10 years, CSN, Maria Muldaur, John Mayall, Ringo Starr, Dr. John, Neil Young, & many more) is regarded as one of the most gifted singer-songwriters of today. A multi award winner and finalist in numerous songwriting contests, Freebo was also recognized as the 'Best Folk Artist 2007' by the Los Angeles Music Awards. In addition, he has appeared on Saturday Night Live, The Muppet Show, The Midnight Special, and in concert with the legendary Spinal Tap. His compassionate concern for the world and people around him, as evidenced both in his lyrics and his open stage banter, has helped him connect with listeners worldwide. A musical evening with Freebo is astute, insightful, clever, and truly melodic.

A rising voice in modern folk, singer and songwriter Alice Howe offers a modern love letter to 60s and 70s folk and timeless blues. Originally hailing from Boston, MA, now living in Los Angeles, Alice released her critically acclaimed debut album, Visions, last May. Produced by Freebo with a stellar cast of musicians and recorded in Bakersfield, California, Visions features new originals alongside Alice’s interpretations of iconic songs from her family’s vast record collection. A young artist discovering her own power, Alice pays homage without succumbing to imitation. “Howe not only has a luminous alto voice full of warmth and delectable nuance, but she also writes smart and affecting lyrics full of wit and irreverence” - The Patriot Ledger.

GRAMMY® winning guitarist Laurence Juber is a solo performer, recording artist, composer, and arranger. His playing fuses folk, jazz, blues, pop and classical styles, creating a multi-faceted performance that belies the use of only one instrument.
A music graduate of London’s Goldsmith’s College, he was featured guitar soloist with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra before becoming established as a studio musician in the mid-1970’s. First internationally recognized as lead guitarist in Beatle Paul McCartney’s Wings, with whom he won a Grammy, Juber has since established himself as a world-renowned guitar virtuoso and entertainer.

Ace previously released the title track, "10,000 Volts" and single "Walkin' on the Moon." Rock ‘n’ roll and heavy metal simply wouldn’t sound, look, or feel the same without Ace Frehley. Among hundreds of accolades, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame® inducted him in 2014 as a Co-founder and the original lead guitarist of Kiss. Guitar World named him in the Top 15 of its “100 Greatest Heavy Metal Guitarists of All Time” and plugged the lead from “Shock Me” on the “50 Greatest Guitar Solos of All Time.” Magnifying the imprint of his catalog as a solo artist, Foo Fighters cut a fan-favorite cover of “Ozone,” and he even jammed out “New York Groove” alongside The Roots on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The late Dimebag Darrell of Pantera proudly sported a tattoo of Frehley on his chest, while Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine celebrated him on X/Twitter as “My first guitar hero.” 10,000 Volts upholds an incredible legacy for Frehley, spanning 50-plus years in the limelight. Back in 1978, he delivered his solo debut, Ace Frehley. It reached platinum status and exploded as “the highest-selling of the four Kiss solo albums in the Soundscan era.” Pitchfork even retrospectively rated it a rare “8.5” score. In 1987, he dropped Frehley’s Comet. Following Anomaly in 2009, he went on to make history once again. His 2014 Space Invader LP captured #9 on the Billboard 200 and emerged as “The only solo album by a past or current Kiss member to reach the Top 10 on the chart.” 2016’s Origins Vol. 1, bowed at #1 on the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums Chart and in the Top 5 of the Billboard Top Rock Albums Chart. On "Cherry Medicine," a mean palm-muted chug underlines his pensive vocals where he confesses, “I knew I had to change my ways for sure to keep you by my side.” The track showcases another side of Frehley with its saccharine and sweet, soaring hook as he promises, “I love you, cherry medicine. You heal my every need and some.” He seals the sentiment with another powerhouse solo.
