Alamo Music Center | Nearly Indestructible Travel Guitar? | Journey Instruments Overhead OF660M Review
For the avid guitar player traveling can pose unique obstacles. Thankfully we are better off than keyboard and drum players but someone with a flute has an advantage when it comes to portability. For this reason the ever growing selection of travel guitars aims to solve the problem of hitting the road and and taking your music with you. While travel guitars continue to grow in popularity they can still pose their own problem. Are they big enough to generate ample volume with good tone? Are they small enough to be portable but not too small to sacrifice the playing experience? Finally, can you fly with it? A manufacturer may call it a travel guitar but most airlines might disagree. To solve many of these issues Journey Instruments decided that the answer was simple - remove the neck... or make it detachable anyway. Their formula for the Overhead line of guitars has proven that you can take a full scale guitar on an airplane with you, along with your other electronics. The OF660M adds carbon fiber to the mix making a guitar that is almost indestructible. It doesn't move with temperature and humidity changes and generates a fantastic despite its size.
