Alamo Music Center | Taylor Builder's Edition 816ce | In-Depth Review with Taylor's most interesting new design
Taylor Guitars has redesigned the Grand Symphony body with the new V-class bracing pattern and other new features. Highlighted on the newly released Builder's Edition 816ce is the beveled sound port cutaway. This feature allows the guitar to have a complete, non-cutaway back with a florentine cutaway on the front with an inlaid ebony bevel between the two. There is a soundport in the middle of this bevel that directs additional sound from the guitar for the player. Despite the fact that this soundport is on the lower upper bout of the guitar when seated it does indeed reach the players ears for a surround sound experience. Chris McKee explains in detail how this new feature works and why Andy Power and Taylor Guitar decided to introduce a soundport in this way. Other features on the Builder's Edition 816ce include the silent satin finish, chamfered binding, Lutz Spruce top, shorter scale, Gotoh tuners and more.
