Alamo Music Center | Old Taylor Versus New Taylor | Comparing my 20 year old Taylor 914c against a brand new 914ce

For 20 years I have been playing a Taylor 914c in stages, in churches and at home. It has logged hundreds of hours, had multiple pickups and was even stolen once only to be recovered months later. As guitars age they “open up” becoming more resonant. This is due to the wood actually changing. Releasing volatiles and in a way becoming lighter while also more stable. This comparison is an interesting one because it isn’t comparing apples to apples. The Taylor 914ce has changed a lot over the years. Some of the tone woods have changed along with aesthetics and design. In this video we compare the two to see what’s changed and what effect 20 years can have.

Expensive vs. Cheap Gibson Acoustic Guitars G-45 Studio vs. Southern Jumbo

Today we're taking a look at the Expensive vs. Cheap series for Gibson Acoustic Guitars. Our [not so] cheap option is the Gibson G-45 Studio, a now-discontinued model, and our expensive option is the Southern Jumbo (also known as the J-45's fancy pants cousin). With less of a price discrepancy separating these two guitars than other manufacturers in our previous episodes, we want to know: can you hear a difference? What stands out in these guitars? Let us know in the comments! 0:00 Intro / Specs 10:30 G-45 Studio Demo 1 11:31 Southern Jumbo Demo 1 12:34 G-45 Studio Demo 2 13:44 Southern Jumbo Demo 2 14:58 Final Thoughts

Gibson 50's J-50 An Underrated Gem For Fans of the Natural.

Today we are checking out the Gibson J-50, an underrated guitar that is eerily similar to one of the most popular acoustic guitars of all time, the J-45. Different only in finish, the J-50 offers the Gibson slope-shoulder dreadnought classic with a beautiful natural top, as opposed to the vintage sunburst. This spruce/mahogany workhorse has been around since the 1950's, but it is now readily available as part of Gibson's Original Collection.
