Verlon Thompson is one of my all time guitar heroes and one of the nicest people you will ever meet. He's been writing songs and performing for over thirty years as a solo performer, and as the trusted sidekick of Guy Clark. Along the way Verlon Thompson compositions have been recorded by Jimmy Buffett and Alan Jackson, Dierks Bentley, Anne Murray, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Kenny Rogers, Randy Travis, Del McCoury, Sam Bush, Trisha Yearwood and many more. His guitar can be heard on recordings by Restless Heart, Pam Tillis, and many more, including, and especially Guy Clark. Verlon even co-produced Guy Clark's Grammy nominated cd "Cold Dog Soup" as well as "The Dark", "Workbench Songs" and "Somedays the Song Writes You". We had such a good time at Poor David's Pub in Dallas filming this Episode of Guitar Slingers.

108 ROCK STAR GUITARS AT NAMM 2020: Brandon Cook: Black 'N Blue
Guitarist for heavy metal band, Black 'N Blue, Brandon Cook has been a name synonymous with excellent guitar playing for many years in Portland, Oregon. He studied at Portland State University with Jerry Hahn, obtaining a Bachelor of Music in Performance. After college, he studied with Marty Friedman(ex-Megadeth) and Al Pitrelli(ex-Megadeth, currently in Transsiberian Orchestra). Honest Unboxing and Review Amazon Best Selling $40 Acoustic Guitar - Guitar Buyer's Guide
In our brick and mortar music store we see parents come in on a regular basis with guitars that they purchased online, often from Amazon for their child. The idea is that the kid may not stick with it so they don't want to spend too much money. This is an understandable sentiment but when you look at budget options on many e-commerce sites like Amazon they come from brands you have never heard of. Is it even possible to manufacture, ship and sell a guitar that is a good isntrument. Is there any value in a $40.00 acoustic guitar that you purchase from Amazon? Tons of shoppers think that's the case, so we wanted to see what the deal was for ourselves. For those of you that are on the fence about purchasing your first guitar, well this one's for you. We went to Amazon, look at the top selling guitars, picked the color we liked and ordered. The guitar came shipped to us in a box that was thankfully, not damaged in shipping and we unbox and review for you live to be completely honest and transparent and the guitar and what you can expect.
Truetone Lounge | Chad Jeffers
Chad Jeffers is currently celebrating his 13th year playing arenas with Carrie Underwood. Prior to Miss Underwood, he toured with Keith Urban, Kenny Loggins, and was a member of a band signed to RCA Records. In this Truetone Lounge, Jeffers shares volumes of great advice for the up-and-coming players, coming from both the position of the artist and the sideman. He also stresses the importance of networking, hard work, and the willingness to take chances as recipes for success. Jeffers also illustrates how both being a multi-instrumentalist, and his willingness to learn has kept him working in a very competitive environment.
Wildwood Guitars • Fender Custom Shop Wildwood 10 1955 Telecaster • SN R100303
Years ago, we approached our friends at the Fender Custom Shop with a proposal: would they build us guitars that combined the mojo of a true-to-vintage reissue with modern handfeel and comfy modern ergonomics? They were enthused about the idea, and the Wildwood 10 was born. Thanks to the Custom Shop’s incredible craftsmanship and artistry, these guitars look gorgeous, sound killer, and play like butter. Each of these Custom Shop creations features a thin fifties-style nitrocellulose finish, which allows the voice of the resonant hand-selected tonewoods to shine through. They also have hand-wound Custom Shop pickups that are sure to inspire you to reach new heights on your sonic journey. Wildwood 10s feel great in your hands, too. Their modern 10” radius is suitable for a wide variety of styles and techniques, and their 6105 narrow-tall frets allow you to expend less energy with your left hand, especially when bending strings. To top it all off, they come with a limited edition Dealer Select Wildwood 10 hardshell case and a certificate of authenticity.
